8th Grade Students Study Aboard Lake George Floating Classroom

8th grade students recently took a field trip aboard the Lake George Floating Classroom to learn about the clarity and biodiversity of organisms within the lake and watershed areas. The Floating Classroom is an educational and interactive vessel providing guests the opportunity to learn about the ecology and health of Lake George, and how to protect the lake through various hands-on activities and experiments.

The students were introduced to various topics they will study this school year, including the ecosystem and biodiversity. In addition to the educational component, this field trip also helped the students develop camaraderie amongst the group; equally important in developing teamwork and social skills. The trip was organized by Whitehall science teacher Lori Comar, and chaperoned along with 8th grade teachers Stephanie Checkla and Dane Stutes.
